Ploughing Match Painting – Vintage Tractor

Ploughing Match Painting – Last year I was asked to paint a large watercolour of a vintage tractor and plough. I found this a very interesting painting to do. There was a lot to understand! This painting took many weeks of work. There was a lot to complete. My client has a long history of competing in Ploughing matches. The tractor is a David Brown 880 and in a lovely condition being looked after from new. The plough was a Ransome Plough. Interestingly for me being a member of the Bonning family, I learned that one of my husbands relatives was the inventor or the ‘Ransome Bonnings’ plough which is a different plough to the one shown in my painting.

After completing the painting I was pleased to attend my local ploughing match held at Black Dog in 2015. There my client was competing and I enjoyed seeing the reality!! For more information about upcoming events please visit http://www.ploughmen.co.uk/uk-matches

Graphite Pencil Portraits

Here are a collection of my Graphite pencil portraits. Each one takes two to three weeks to complete. I favour using ‘Snowdon’ Cartridge paper as it has a nice texture, not too smooth!

Landscape Paintings for Weddings and Special Occasions.

Landscape Paintings for Weddings and special occasions. It is always a huge pleasure to create a painting for someone, to capturing their favorite view or place of special meaning. I usually make several visits to see the view in different conditions and lights. It is important for me to get to know the place properly! I make notes, sketches and photographs to help me with the composition and then the painting will be created in the studio.

BESPOKE FRAMING

Where ever possible I like to frame my paintings myself. It is great way to finish the commission with a hand made unique frame that is designed to compliment the painting.

Watercolour portraits offer a real opportunity for me to capture the subject in a setting. This can be a room, an interior, or a landscape scene. Watercolour is an amazing medium to work in, it offers a soft, subtle feel which is particularly appropriate when painting animals. However, how to achieve the depth of colour and contrast required when painting a Labrador for instance? Well, I need to work in a particular way, painting numerous layers whilst still aiming to achieve translucency and maintain the real quality of watercolour.
